Biography

Kenneth Alan Hemstreet, age 78. Beloved husband of Nancy Magnus; Loving dad of Bob (Dana) Magnus, and Skye (Casey Marshall) Magnus; Playful Papa of Danielle and Norman; Dear brother of Michael (the late Nancy) Hemstreet, Paul Hemstreet, and the late Wayne (the late Lynn) Hemstreet and brother in law of Paul (Peggy) Magnus, Mary Robinson, Patricia (Tom Wilson) Skirmont; Dear son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth Hemstreet; Fond uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Ken was a 4th Degree Knight with the Saint Peter the Apostle Knights of Columbus Council 10884. Ken worked as a civil engineer for The Illinois Department of Transportation for almost 30 years and after retirement he continued as a consultant for Civil Tech, Teng, and AECOM. He loved family gatherings and spending quality time with his grandchildren. Ken was an avid camper who took charge and pride in making all the meals over the campfire. He was also a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and probably be most remembered for the many jokes he loved to tell. Visitation Monday, July 1st 3:00-8:00pm and Tuesday, July 2nd 8:00 am until time of Funeral, 9:30 am at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca to Saint Peter the Apostle Church, Itasca.
