Biography

Richard, 99, Passed away on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at Tabor Hills, Naperville, IL. He was born in Chicago and raised by his loving Mother Josephine Klebek. He attended Catholic Schooling. He joined the Air Force serving in WWII with the 456th BG-744th Squadron as an Aerial gunner stationed in Trieste, Italy flying 35 Missions. He married his True Love Vivian C. Matthies and they raised their 4 children in Itasca, IL. They were founding members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Richard was employed by Gillette/Papermate his entire career until his retirement. Vivian preceded him death in 1992. His wife Marie nee Cavitt preceded him in death in 2016. He is survived by his sons Robert (Linda), Gregory (Brenda), Paul (Brenda), and his daughter Marie (Werner) Raninger and Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Richard was an avid Golfer, Ice Hockey Skater, and loved his Chicago White Sox team. Supporter of his parish and the VFW of Itasca. Visitation on Friday, April 11th from 8:00 a.m. until time of Funeral 9:30 am at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E Irving Park Rd (at Prospect), Itasca. Funeral Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter The Apostle Church, Itasca. Interment following at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Richard to the Red Cross, Catholic Charities, or EWTN.
