Biography

At age 86 was a devoted, loyal, and loving husband for 63 years of marriage to Italia; a supportive and loving dad to Dominick (Janice Swan) and Maria. Joseph was preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters. Loving uncle to Dominick, Josephine and Stella with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in both America and Italy. Joseph was strong and courageous with such vitality for life and gentle way about him. He would give his time and efforts to anyone in need. He entertained people with humor and stories from his life and enjoyed making others happy. He would gladly share a bottle of his homemade wine made with his best friend Joe and would joke about not revealing his recipe. Joseph was very talented in woodworking, electrical work and painting. His favorite tools were a hammer, screwdriver, and paintbrush. He enjoyed training his parakeet Messy to fly on command and dog Diamonds to fetch. Joseph cherished his garden and enjoyed the sunshine on his swing. Most of all, he valued his home and family. He was the life of the party and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation Thursday, September 19th, 8:00 am until time of the funeral, 9:45 am at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca to Saint Philip the Apostle Church 1223 W Holtz Ave, Addison. Mass 10:30 am. Entombment All Saints Cemetery 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines. A luncheon will follow at Cafe Lucci, Glenview.
