David Acevedo, age 62 of Vernon Hills IL, passed away on January 15th 2020. David was born in Chicago IL on October 22nd 1957 at Illinois Masonic Hospital. He graduated from St. Michaels High School at 16 years of age, and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from DePaul University. David was married to Melissa on November 17th, 2001; they were married 18 years. David worked at Allstate Insurance company for 20 years where he worked his way through the ranks and made many friends. He enjoyed the Allstate ski club trips and enjoyed playing on the softball team. After Allstate David went on to work for Hospira as an Information Technology Manager where he worked for five years before retiring at age 62 from Hollister Incorporated. He retired in June 2019 as a Global I/T Manager. David loved the Chicago White Sox, the Blackhawks and attended many games with wife Melissa, and several friends from his years at Allstate. David was also an avid Nascar fan who really enjoyed traveling to different race tracks over the years with his close group of friends. David loved music, particularly the old bands from Puerto Rico such as El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico, Frankie Ruiz, and Hector LavVoe; he also loved to salsa dance. And although David did not enjoy flying, he loved to travel. He enjoyed vacations in Key West Florida, Puerto Vallarta Mexico, Puerto Rico and Hawaii. David loved to make people laugh. He was the consummate jokester, and was known for his love of gambling, and turning a regular sporting event into a gambling opportunity for all. David is survived by Melissa, his brothers Jesus Acevedo Jr, Manny and Carlos, and his sister Leticia along with 5 nieces and 6 nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Petra Acevedo, and his sister Sylvia (Cookie). On behalf of David’s family we would like to thank you for all of the love, support and friendship.
