Sue Ellen Kolar passed away on May 23rd, 2020, at age 73. Sue was born in Melrose Park, IL, to Joseph and Grace Szerbinski on July 13th, 1946. She was the second youngest of four children (Joseph, Richard, and Cathy). She met her would-be husband, Joseph Kolar, in an alley in 1961. They would later wed on March 1st, 1969, and go on to have four children, Joseph (Lara), Jennifer (Marc), Michael (Sarah), and Kristy (Daniel). One of Sue’s proudest achievements was becoming a grandmother to eight wonderful grandchildren, John, Tyler, Payton, Madison, Andrew Joseph, Michael, Margaret, and Cooper. To her grandchildren, she was best known as G-Ma, Grandma Sugar Cookies, Nana or simply Grandma. Sue had many passions. She was an avid reader, tremendous cook, baker, foodie, wine enthusiast, and loved nothing more than traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. Sue will be remembered as a selfless, devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had incredible strength and was a “tough cookie” to the end. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Sue is survived by her husband, her four children, her eight grandchildren and her “sweet pea” pooch, Murphy. Sue will be missed, never forgotten, and always loved by those whom she touched in her lifetime. Wigs.
