Biography

Claremarie Russo (nee Halloran), age 90; passed away at Alexian Brothers Hospice House after a courageous 2 ½ year battle against lung cancer. Her courage and fight to the end was an inspiration to all who loved her. Born in Chicago, a 20 year resident of Elk Grove Village and formerly of Mt. Prospect for 39 years.Beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Russo; loving mother of Frank (Colleen) Russo, John (Terry) Russo, Peggy (Steve) Scholten, Mark Russo, Clare (George) Aparo, Joan (Greg) Kinney, Anne (Gary) Polic; devoted grandmother of Katie (Tim) Monahan, William Russo, Carly Scholten, Kim (Doug) Storrie, Scott (Bari) Scholten, Bailey Deacon, Spencer Deacon, Thomas Russo, Joseph Kinney, Emily Russo, Shannon Kinney, Augie Russo, Regan Kinney, Garan Polic; and great grandmother of Cormac and Declan Monahan, Arthur and Calvin Storrie, Jaxton Scholten; Clare is survived by her sister and best friend, Joan (Martin) O’Malley; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews; she will be missed by a wonderful group of friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and John Halloran, five brothers and one sister. Visitation Friday, November 4th, 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca, IL. Family and friends will meet for a Catholic Funeral Mass Saturday, November 5th, 10:30 a.m. at St. Julian Eymard Church, 601 Biesterfield Road, Elk Grove Village, IL. Interment Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, IL. Clare was a loving homemaker for many years, then a medical assistant. Following her retirement, she began volunteering at Northwest Community Hospital where she gave over 5000 hours of her time and was honored last spring for these hours and 30 years of service. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Bank, Dr. Martin Boyer, and their staff at the Cancer Institute of Alexian Brothers Medical Center and to the family of the late Dr. Bridget Drury, Dr. Charlotte Glenn, and Nicole Lorang, N.P., for the wonderful support, respect, care, and attention that Claremarie always received. And to the staff at the Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence, the family admires your calling and praises the outstanding work you do.
