Biography

Eugene J. “Gene” Wiesneth passed away peacefully on June 18, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Gene was born in Elmhurst, IL to Joseph and Elizabeth nee Behr. He was the beloved husband for 58 years of Frances nee Culotta; loving and devoted father of Joseph, Mary, Cheryl, Charles (Cheryl), Patricia (John) Kearney, Peggy and Michael; cherished grandfather of Brian, Emma and Nicholas. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Irvin Wiesneth and sister, Isabel (the late Charles) Oathout and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Gene was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He enjoyed fishing trips to Wisconsin and trips to Las Vegas. He had a hole-in-one at Doral Eaglewood Country Club. He was a member of VFW Post 2801. Gene was a member of Carpenters Local 558 for nearly 60 years. He was a skilled craftsman, building his homes and helping his children with their homes. We love you, Dad. You were the “rock” in the family. You will be missed more than you will ever know. Visitation Wednesday 3:00-8:00 p.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca. Family and friends will meet Thursday, 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Church 254 N. Wood Dale Road, Wood Dale. Interment Saint Isidore Cemetery.
