Biography

Deacon Patrick J. Briggs, age 74; of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, passed away in late October at Northwestern Memorial Hospital holding the loving hand of his ever devoted wife Nancy. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was cared for and nurtured by his Grandma, Aunts & Uncles and loving Cousins. Patrick is missed by his wife Nancy Briggs of 41 years of marriage, along with his children, Kathryn and Daniel, whom Patrick was incredibly proud to call his own and his grandchildren, Samantha and Aiden whom loved and supported their mischievous, caring grandfather. Patrick was a man dedicated to helping others. As a young man, Patrick served proudly in the Air Force, providing wounded soldiers an escape from the warzones via helicopter to ensure the troops received proper health care during the Vietnam War. Patrick’s journey then took him to Chicago, where we grew his career by advocating for patients and assisting in the growth Northwestern Memorial Hospital as Director of Patient Relations. This is also where Patrick met his beautiful wife Nancy, a nurse. Patrick was also a dedicated Deacon helping countless individuals grow their faith and find peace. Visitation Sunday, Nov. 3rd, 3:00 - 8:00 PM at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Rd (at Prospect), Itasca. Family and friends will meet at Christus Victor Lutheran Church 1045 S. Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village on Monday, November 4th for a Lying in State, 10:00 AM until the Service, 11:00 AM. Interment private.
