Biography

Gricelda “Grace” Chavez, age 63, passed away at Northwest Community Hospital surrounded by her family on Friday, March 16, 2018. She was born on October 7, 1954 in Guatemala City, Guatemala to Ezequiel and Amalia Alvarez. Gricelda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Edgar; her children Ronnie and Jenny; her brothers and sisters Ana Beatriz, Alfredo, Brenda, Edwin, Iliana, and Hugo; and many nieces and nephews. She had a blessed life filled with family, love, laughter, and most importantly, dancing. She was a gracious host, always concerned with the happiness of others and known for keeping plates filled with homemade food and large helpings. There will be a Visitation Tuesday, March 20th 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 East Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca. Family and friends will meet for a Memorial Mass celebrating her life on Wednesday, March 21st, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alexis Catholic Church, 400 W. Wood Street, Bensenville.
